It takes a lot to run a company that provides various services so that individuals and other organizations can comply with statutory and maritime regulatory requirements of the maritime industry, but it takes even more to do so in a consistent and reliable way for ten years straight. That is why, to celebrate its 10 year anniversary, Oceanwide Maritime Services Corp. held a small party at its office last March 22, 2022. The event was attended by Oceanwide Maritime Services Corp. Chairman and CEO Capt. Gregory Nick R. Sevilla; Oceanwide President and COO Anthony T. Sevilla II; Board of Directors Ms. Carina G. Sevilla and Ms Maria Lourdes U. Sevilla, as well as staff, employees, and friends of Oceanwide throughout the maritime industry. “At the end of the day, we came here to have this simple celebration with you, the staff, that made this possible,” said Capt. Sevilla during his speech during the party. “We want to create a business that provides ‘quality’,” added President Anthony T. Sevilla II. “Quality entails sacrifices and a lot of hard work, but along the way, we met a lot of friends and good people. Without our staff and those who helped us, we would not be able to have this success,” he said. Although the pandemic affected the company, especially during the height of it last 2020, Oceanwide did its best to endure, adapt, and thrive. “The pandemic affected the way we conduct our trainings. Because of the pandemic, we finally came into terms with how important online platforms through learning management systems (LMS) and virtual classrooms are,” said President Anthony T. Sevilla II in an interview. He explained that it is thanks to that realization that Oceanwide remains competitive and adaptive to the needs of its clients. “With regards to our other services, travel restrictions were a challenge and we had to overcome these challenges through the help of our existing stakeholders through proper channeling and network,” he added. According to him, Oceanwide prides itself on meeting the needs of each client without sacrificing its ability to provide quality service. “Different clients mean varied demands and needs. Because of this, compromise is a need. We need to address every client’s requests, adjust to them and deliver what we promise. In the end, we only have one virtue to uphold, quality is non-negotiable,” he explained, adding that all the training courses they offer demand quality and that is something that they can always provide. “From a humble maritime training institution when we started way back in 2012, we are proud to say that we have come a long way. Oceanwide Group is now a company with diversified maritime services — from training to surveying, compass adjustment, and consultancy. Then we also ventured into marine supplies and services, and Information Technology,” “We thank the almighty God for guiding us in achieving our goal. We thank our employees, instructors, surveyors, and auditors for being with us through time and helping our company grow. To our investors, we thank you for keeping your trust in us. To our stakeholders, especially our clients like the seafarers, the shipping companies, and the port operators, we thank you for your continued patronage. To the government agencies, we thank you for the opportunity to help serve the general public. Rest assured that we will continue to help the Philippine maritime industry in its quest to become a world-class industry,” he ended. Currently, Oceanwide is accredited as a Recognized Organization in the conduct of Marine Pollution Survey with the Marine Environmental Protection Command-Philippine Coast Guard (MEPCOM-PCG), an accredited Recognized Security Organization by the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) in the conduct of Maritime Security Audit with Ports and Ships, and an accredited Underwater Surveyor by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). Its sister company, Oceanskipper Marine Supplies and General Services Corp. is accredited with MARINA as a Compass Adjuster. It is also MARINA-accredited in the Supply and Servicing of Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE), Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), and Navigation and Communication Equipment (NavCom). It also has Oceanwide Surveys Inc., which performs surveys, vetting, and investigation services on behalf of shipowners, ship managers, charterers, Protection & Indemnity, Hull and Machinery, and the marine insurance industry.
